Hide taxes the simple way

Remove the tax column from Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Customer Invoices and Vendor Bills — on screen and on the printed PDF — from one unified settings page. Totals stay exactly the same.

The problem

Odoo has no built-in switch to hide tax detail from the documents you send to customers and vendors. The only native path is editing QWeb report templates — risky, technical, and easy to break on the next upgrade. Most apps cover only one document type and bury the setting across separate screens.

The solution

One "Tax Visibility" settings page with a clear toggle per document type. Switch a document on and the tax column disappears from both the form and the printed PDF, while the underlying tax amounts and totals remain untouched in your accounting records.

Capabilities

One module, every document

Every capability below is implemented in the module.

01

All Four Documents

Hide taxes on Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Customer Invoices and Vendor Bills — all from a single module, with no separate add-ons to install per document type.

02

Unified Settings Page

A single "Tax Visibility" block under Accounting settings groups every toggle in one place, instead of spreading configuration across separate Sales, Purchase and Invoicing screens.

03

Per-Document Toggle

Hide taxes on customer-facing documents while keeping them on internal ones — each document type has its own independent switch, so you stay in full control.

04

Hidden On Screen

The tax column is removed from the order and invoice line tables in the form view, so staff are not distracted by tax fields the business has chosen to suppress.

05

Hidden On The PDF

The Taxes column is dropped from the printed sale order, purchase order and invoice reports, so the documents you send to customers and vendors stay clean and uncluttered.

06

Totals Preserved

Hiding is display only. The untaxed amount, tax amount and grand total are never modified, so your journal entries, tax reports and filings are completely unaffected.

07

Status Ribbon

A discreet "Taxes Hidden" ribbon appears on each document where hiding is active, confirming the feature is working without needing to open a PDF or return to settings.

08

Multi-Company Ready

Settings are stored per company, so each company in a multi-company database configures its own tax visibility independently.

09

No Code, No Risk

No QWeb template editing and no developer required. A non-technical administrator turns tax visibility on or off with a single click, safely across Odoo upgrades.

Workflow

How it works

1

Open Settings

Go to Accounting settings and find the "Tax Visibility" section.

2

Pick Documents

Toggle hiding on for any of the four document types you need.

3

Save

Save the settings — changes apply immediately, no restart needed.

4

Print Clean

Open or print any document — the tax column is gone, totals intact.
